I think the best advice I could give anyone at this point in
my life right now, from my best friend to a complete stranger is well simply put,
your life is not yours. Your life is like a gift, on loan to you for as many
years as you occupy this earth. Your life has been entrusted to you by God and yes,
he has given you free will, but that doesn't mean you get to skip out on the
rules and as much control you think you may have today or tomorrow or five
years from now is truly nonexistent. Our lives were gifted and entrusted to us
by the king of kings so that we may be a living testimony of his love until he
returns and takes back his kingdom. We are all ambassadors for God and with
that comes great responsibility, trial, maybe turmoil, but also relief. Often
times not being in control seems scary, but when you realize that the one in
control not only has your best interest at heart, but also that of the entire
universe, well it's quite comforting. It has taken me personally some time to
realize that I not only can't control everything, but I don't want to. When I
give things over to God and bring my focus back to him and what he wants for my
life, everything changes, it's no longer about me because it never was and it’s
no longer about the circumstances at hand because they are gradual in
comparison to the ultimate plan God has. When you invite him into your life,
when you completely surrender control, yes you may feel fear but trust me that
fades, and in return of that fear, you receive utter joy, peace and even
reassurance that in the darkest waters, everything will be okay. Live your life
fearlessly free of control, give it to God, let him guide your life and when
you do, you will see things come together in your life and maybe even the lives
around you that was previously unexpected. Live with a knowledge that this life
is not yours, serve an audience of one and your life will truly be of adequate
service. Your life is not yours, and that is the greatest gift we have all ever
been given, we get to live in service to the king of kings in this life as
preparation for the next and the blessings and peace that accompany that, the
security knowing you are loved and guided by a God who died for you, who died
for those you love and who not only came back, but who is coming again... That
is beyond worth living for, that is worth striving every moment to serve and
love others the way Jesus did and to do our best to be a true testimony of the
legacy our king has so mercifully allowed us to be a part of.
I feel there is something not talked about enough, everyone knows the feeling of failure. We all make mistakes, comes with being human, we all cope with that. How though do we cope when unplanned mistakes take place, I know your wondering what on earth I mean by this, most mistakes are unplanned… I am referring to the mistakes, the trials that occur even when the “rules” are followed, those that incur even when perhaps we have done everything right that is within in our power. This takes a different type of coping, paired with an even greater understanding and matched with yet a greater perspective. In order to cope and heal from these unplanned mistakes we need to evaluate what was within our control and what was genuinely not. Often times when things go wrong we immediately blame and criticize ourselves because let’s be real, that is much easier than accepting the unknown and accepting the true lack of control we had over the situation. It is facing this fact though that allows for
