Finding Your Purpose

I had the pleasure of hearing a sermon Wednesday night and it got me thinking. It was about purpose, and finding God's purpose for your life then acting on it. This really got me thinking, we often think about and focus all of our energy on the grand purpose for our lives. The one thing, the one ministry that God put us on the earth to fulfill. It's true, we all have one of those, but lets be honest, it can get pretty exhausting focusing all of our energy on figuring it out. Not to mention while were focusing our energy on trying to find that one specific thing, how many other opportunities from the Lord are we missing? There is more he wants us to do than just one grand act or one area of ministry. Each day we are here isn't by chance or because we got lucky enough to be alive. We are here each day because God still wants each of us to be here. We are here because on this very day, no matter how bland or gloomy it may seem, on this day, God has something he wants us to do.

I am a child of God

" I'm a child of God, yes I am". This line of a song I'm sure many have heard is not just a song lyric, it is a testimony of life, of new life. It is the testimony of my life. The understanding that he knew me and shaped me to live out his plan for my life that he perfectly crafted specifically for me ( how incredible is that??) The understanding that I am not in control and that he is sovereign. The learning of patience in waiting for his answer to an anxious prayer or plea.  It is a commitment that I will live for the Lord despite earthly temptation. It is a commitment to follow the path he has lit for me even when it doesn't make sense. It i

Growth and Change, It's Okay!

As people we often have a tendency to jump ahead in life. We get excited in the moment or scared in the moment and seem to think that one moment in paradise or one moment in pain defines our future. As hard as it is, we need to take control of our aspirations and dreams, we need to work on building ourselves in a positive way. We also need to remember that we change and we grow and that's perfectly okay. A part of living is learning more about yourself and who you want to be. A part of living is deciding not only what you want but whats best for you. A part of life is understanding that people are in your life for a season and its okay if that season ends. It's also okay to take time for yourself. You can be there for people as much as you want and that's great but you can't change them, only they can do that. So focus on yourself, learn who you are and who you want to be and don't be afraid for that to change. Don't fear the loss of someone in your life, their
