Lifes a Track Course...Run It

Hey y'all!
I apologize for how long it been since I've posted, I'm sure you can understand how life has a way of getting busy, hectic and in the way of things. In my absence from all of you, I've done a lot of thinking, about things that have happened in my life, the lives of those I care about, and just life in general. When you think about life, how do you classify it? There's many ways and I even use a few of them depending on the time in my life. Some think of life as a story books, or as I like to think of it, as a text book because you only know what you have read and you will learn what you have yet to read. Lately another way I think about life, is like a track course. For those of you that have never experienced track, its a sport in which athletes do a variety of activities. They run races, throw javelin or shot -put, and even jump hurdles. Life in a way is a lot like track, every day we are given lessons ,trials, moments that what we choose to do will affect the outcome of our lives. Just like athletes we train every day for our race called life. Sometimes we get a straight shot through and other times were given hurdles, and how we have trained and prepared ourselves will determine how we respond to the hurdles were given. What I've learned is that just because we've been given a hurdle or a road block, it doesn't mean its over. If you want something bad enough, then a hurdle is just that, a hurdle.  Its not an end zone but instead its a challenge and by overcoming that challenge not only will you be stronger, but you will be better prepared and trained for hurdles In your future. Lets be honest, life Is full of hurdles and curve balls , these things can destroy us or they can make us better. Just like athletes were in a race of life but not against another schools team, its a race against ourselves and if you run the race striving to be the best athlete you can be, then you will have won. Something that comforts me when I'm panicking about a new hurdle in life is, God doesn't give us more then we can handle. So if you have  a hurdle in your life, remember who sets up the jumps and spend daily time with your coach. God sets the jumps, he knows the course so spend time with him, learning from him, practicing with him and then you will be prepared without fear for what he gives you in life. There's a song lyric I like and I feel like It really relates to this, "So if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us? And if our God is with us then what can stand against?" Next time you reach a hurdle, remember these words :)

Love Yo Selfie

Often times when you think about "love", where does your mind go? For some of us it might be the love shared between a couple or a family, friends etc. Rarely however do we think about ourselves. The world can feel like its spinning a million miles an hour, I know mine is. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that we often times neglect ourselves. We love everyone and try to make sure they know that, but what about making sure we know we love ourselves? That were happy with who we are? You may be thinking I've gone crazy right now trying to tell you to love yourself lol. I'm serious though, we are our biggest critics and I feel like we spend so much time critiquing ourselves that we forget to be happy with who we are. We tend to excuse mistakes of ones we care  about, as we should but then we dwell on our own mistakes and let them tear us apart. We need to show ourselves the compassion we show others and we need to be comfortable with who we are as ...

Stillness

As someone accustomed to being constantly on the go and busy, I've always found the concept of stillness almost nerving.  When someone tells you to spend time being still in God's presence, I don't know about you but I always pictured literally sitting still with nothing to occupy myself. To say the least due to this perception stillness is something I'd avoid. As I've began seeking God as a new mother, he's hit me with a new perspective that I'd like to share in the hopes it can aid and encourage others to embrace being still.  Stillness is different for everyone, perhaps for some it is sitting and doing absolutely nothing, meditating on God's word, for others maybe it's prayer or being alone and singing worship music. Being still with God is eliminating distractions of this world and focusing fully on him. What helps your mind go quiet? What helps you tune into God's voice and block out the world? Personally I've found its worship music and...

Defining Life Through Choices

Life is a crazy thing, what's crazier is how we each define the course we take through it. Often times we categorize our lives by the bigger more obvious choices, for instance taking a job, going back to school, getting married, having children etc. If we created a road map of our lives on paper it would likely consist of big landmark choices. Is it truly those big choices however that sum up our lives? Is it really those land mark sized choices that got us where we are today and propel us further into the future? I'd like to argue that they are not. Every day, every moment we are faced with choices, big and small choices. Perhaps the most seemingly miniscule choices are in fact the most monumental. When you start your day, what thoughts do you allow into your head? How do you nurture your mind, body and soul when you rise and when you begin to settle down for the day? How do you choose to interact with those around you, how do you speak to them? How do you speak to yourself, ...
