Your Place

We all have that certain place that makes us feel whole, complete. That one place where we can truly let go of all our worries, stressors, and busy aspects of life. We have that special place where we can completely let go of all sense of time and responsibility. When our lives are crazy and we cant stop thinking, we go there to find peace. We go there to save the last bit of sanity we have left, we go there to feel rested, we go there to sort out everything in our minds free of interruption. We go there because ultimately its the one place we truly want to be. For some of us this place of serenity is in our own home, it might be the gym, an old building that no one goes, maybe its somewhere in the woods far enough you just feel away from it all. For some it may even be in a book, an alternate reality. When peace is non-existent in our own lives we can for a few moments be in another inside our minds. Wherever your place is, we all have one. Some people might think its stupid, I mean how can a certain place really change your mindset completely right? Well those people may want to give it a try, because once you find that place where you can let go and debrief, it becomes your source of mental relief. It becomes the place you turn to when your having a bad day as well as where you go when you've had the best day. No matter what the reason, that place has sentimental and emotional value to you, it provides comfort and a feeling of security. These emotions and feelings are what we as humans often long for. We want to feel secure and comforted, who knew that those feelings already are or could be right at your very finger tips. Not in a relationship, those come and go it seems like, but in a place that never changes, somewhere that's always there. I have my own little spot of serenity down by the creek. Its still on our property but down there I feel as if I'm in another world. I escape reality and step into this magical forest, Its been special to me since I was young and still is the place where memories come alive. Its the place where imagination flows, the place where I can let go. So I challenge you today, find your place, find where you feel safe and secure. And go there when you need a mental leg up or even when your having the best day of your life. Just cherish that place. :)

Love Yo Selfie

Often times when you think about "love", where does your mind go? For some of us it might be the love shared between a couple or a family, friends etc. Rarely however do we think about ourselves. The world can feel like its spinning a million miles an hour, I know mine is. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that we often times neglect ourselves. We love everyone and try to make sure they know that, but what about making sure we know we love ourselves? That were happy with who we are? You may be thinking I've gone crazy right now trying to tell you to love yourself lol. I'm serious though, we are our biggest critics and I feel like we spend so much time critiquing ourselves that we forget to be happy with who we are. We tend to excuse mistakes of ones we care  about, as we should but then we dwell on our own mistakes and let them tear us apart. We need to show ourselves the compassion we show others and we need to be comfortable with who we are as ...

Stillness

As someone accustomed to being constantly on the go and busy, I've always found the concept of stillness almost nerving.  When someone tells you to spend time being still in God's presence, I don't know about you but I always pictured literally sitting still with nothing to occupy myself. To say the least due to this perception stillness is something I'd avoid. As I've began seeking God as a new mother, he's hit me with a new perspective that I'd like to share in the hopes it can aid and encourage others to embrace being still.  Stillness is different for everyone, perhaps for some it is sitting and doing absolutely nothing, meditating on God's word, for others maybe it's prayer or being alone and singing worship music. Being still with God is eliminating distractions of this world and focusing fully on him. What helps your mind go quiet? What helps you tune into God's voice and block out the world? Personally I've found its worship music and...

Defining Life Through Choices

Life is a crazy thing, what's crazier is how we each define the course we take through it. Often times we categorize our lives by the bigger more obvious choices, for instance taking a job, going back to school, getting married, having children etc. If we created a road map of our lives on paper it would likely consist of big landmark choices. Is it truly those big choices however that sum up our lives? Is it really those land mark sized choices that got us where we are today and propel us further into the future? I'd like to argue that they are not. Every day, every moment we are faced with choices, big and small choices. Perhaps the most seemingly miniscule choices are in fact the most monumental. When you start your day, what thoughts do you allow into your head? How do you nurture your mind, body and soul when you rise and when you begin to settle down for the day? How do you choose to interact with those around you, how do you speak to them? How do you speak to yourself, ...
