Getting Back on Track

I just heard a song on the radio, its one I hear all the time but today it had a different, stronger effect on me. The song is "King of the World " by Natalie Grant, its not just the song but a specific part that really got me. " When did I forget that you've always been the king of the world, I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world." I realize we all try to take life back and we think we can do it on our own, we forget that we cant but our pride makes us box God up and keep him right there for when we want him, we try to run our lives slacking off our devotions and time with him and we think we know what were doing, that we have everything under control ,when in reality we are crumbling to pieces because we are looking in the wrong direction for everything we want. This could be looking to the wrong guys for attention or just socializing in general as i have recently made the mistake of.. or could be that new job that looks so good but in reality could destroy something else. God gives us warnings ,he reaches out but its like we get into this mode where our pride gets so strong we go blind to his plan for us. Lucky for us once we realize that we have strayed, he welcomes us back with open arms and you can get back on track. The fact is were human and we aren't perfect , that's why Jesus died for us because we are sinners and we mess up. We all stray ,the important part is that we realize when we do and we work to get back on track. As much as life tries to tell us theirs happiness in some things ,we can only truly find joy in Jesus Christ and I'm so thankful that when my teenage brain gets swamped by society and I loose sight of whats important that he is right here to pick me up again. Today I challenge you to look at your life right now, is it what you want? Are you the person you want to be? If you answer no to these than maybe evaluate, is something missing? If so are you slacking on devotions or your time with God? Or maybe your not a believer in that case I encourage you to give God a try and see what he can do in your life, maybe something beyond what  you ever imagined. All you have to do is ask :)

Love Yo Selfie

Often times when you think about "love", where does your mind go? For some of us it might be the love shared between a couple or a family, friends etc. Rarely however do we think about ourselves. The world can feel like its spinning a million miles an hour, I know mine is. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that we often times neglect ourselves. We love everyone and try to make sure they know that, but what about making sure we know we love ourselves? That were happy with who we are? You may be thinking I've gone crazy right now trying to tell you to love yourself lol. I'm serious though, we are our biggest critics and I feel like we spend so much time critiquing ourselves that we forget to be happy with who we are. We tend to excuse mistakes of ones we care  about, as we should but then we dwell on our own mistakes and let them tear us apart. We need to show ourselves the compassion we show others and we need to be comfortable with who we are as ...

Stillness

As someone accustomed to being constantly on the go and busy, I've always found the concept of stillness almost nerving.  When someone tells you to spend time being still in God's presence, I don't know about you but I always pictured literally sitting still with nothing to occupy myself. To say the least due to this perception stillness is something I'd avoid. As I've began seeking God as a new mother, he's hit me with a new perspective that I'd like to share in the hopes it can aid and encourage others to embrace being still.  Stillness is different for everyone, perhaps for some it is sitting and doing absolutely nothing, meditating on God's word, for others maybe it's prayer or being alone and singing worship music. Being still with God is eliminating distractions of this world and focusing fully on him. What helps your mind go quiet? What helps you tune into God's voice and block out the world? Personally I've found its worship music and...

Defining Life Through Choices

Life is a crazy thing, what's crazier is how we each define the course we take through it. Often times we categorize our lives by the bigger more obvious choices, for instance taking a job, going back to school, getting married, having children etc. If we created a road map of our lives on paper it would likely consist of big landmark choices. Is it truly those big choices however that sum up our lives? Is it really those land mark sized choices that got us where we are today and propel us further into the future? I'd like to argue that they are not. Every day, every moment we are faced with choices, big and small choices. Perhaps the most seemingly miniscule choices are in fact the most monumental. When you start your day, what thoughts do you allow into your head? How do you nurture your mind, body and soul when you rise and when you begin to settle down for the day? How do you choose to interact with those around you, how do you speak to them? How do you speak to yourself, ...
