Finals...YIkes!

Hey guys!
This one goes out to my fellow high-schooler's, the ones of us who have that dreaded word"finals."
If your anything like me than you are starting to or already have gone into panic mode over this. I mean who doesn't? One test is over half our grade for the year ,if you ask me that's a pretty good reason to stress, however never fear because I have a few study and test taking strategies to share with you that have really helped me :)

1) Talk to your teacher, they love to help you and might even be willing to schedule a private study session to help prepare you so don't be afraid to reach out!

2) A study strategy I always use is note taking, writing out key concepts etc into a notebook puts those notes into a different format which secures the information in your brain in an entire new way ,you can also type the notes as well in order to accomplish the same thing.

3)  Make a study plan ~ you can plan out when to study for each class so you don't feel overwhelmed and this also keeps it more organized and helps you to be less flustered.

4) Study for certain amounts of time and than take a break to help your mind relax and not become once again overwhelmed. The amounts of time will vary depending on you and your schedule.

5) Listen to music, while this doesn't work for everyone it has really helped me to play some of my favorite music on low volume in the background.

6) Now onto the final itself, enter the test with a positive mindset, if you think positive you a re much more likely to succeed.

7) Avoid un-needed pressure and set goals that are realistic.

8) Don't think of previous exams that may have gone badly, just focus on the current test and try your best that is  all anyone expects of you.

9) Lastly have confidence! If your confident that you know the material than your anxiety will go down and your more likely to have a positive testing experience.

10) Good luck! :)

Love Yo Selfie

Often times when you think about "love", where does your mind go? For some of us it might be the love shared between a couple or a family, friends etc. Rarely however do we think about ourselves. The world can feel like its spinning a million miles an hour, I know mine is. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that we often times neglect ourselves. We love everyone and try to make sure they know that, but what about making sure we know we love ourselves? That were happy with who we are? You may be thinking I've gone crazy right now trying to tell you to love yourself lol. I'm serious though, we are our biggest critics and I feel like we spend so much time critiquing ourselves that we forget to be happy with who we are. We tend to excuse mistakes of ones we care  about, as we should but then we dwell on our own mistakes and let them tear us apart. We need to show ourselves the compassion we show others and we need to be comfortable with who we are as ...

Stillness

As someone accustomed to being constantly on the go and busy, I've always found the concept of stillness almost nerving.  When someone tells you to spend time being still in God's presence, I don't know about you but I always pictured literally sitting still with nothing to occupy myself. To say the least due to this perception stillness is something I'd avoid. As I've began seeking God as a new mother, he's hit me with a new perspective that I'd like to share in the hopes it can aid and encourage others to embrace being still.  Stillness is different for everyone, perhaps for some it is sitting and doing absolutely nothing, meditating on God's word, for others maybe it's prayer or being alone and singing worship music. Being still with God is eliminating distractions of this world and focusing fully on him. What helps your mind go quiet? What helps you tune into God's voice and block out the world? Personally I've found its worship music and...

Defining Life Through Choices

Life is a crazy thing, what's crazier is how we each define the course we take through it. Often times we categorize our lives by the bigger more obvious choices, for instance taking a job, going back to school, getting married, having children etc. If we created a road map of our lives on paper it would likely consist of big landmark choices. Is it truly those big choices however that sum up our lives? Is it really those land mark sized choices that got us where we are today and propel us further into the future? I'd like to argue that they are not. Every day, every moment we are faced with choices, big and small choices. Perhaps the most seemingly miniscule choices are in fact the most monumental. When you start your day, what thoughts do you allow into your head? How do you nurture your mind, body and soul when you rise and when you begin to settle down for the day? How do you choose to interact with those around you, how do you speak to them? How do you speak to yourself, ...
