Coming Back to Center

Do you ever feel like the world is spinning a mile a minute and no matter how hard you try, you just can't keep up? I feel like its in these times we find ourselves drifting from what matters most. What matters most, commonly being God, our family and relationships we hold dear. It's easy to get wrapped up in life and that's why its so important to find ways to come back to center. Our center is that place in  our lives that not everything is perfect because honestly perfection doesn't exist. Rather the place in our lives where we have our priorities straight and we know not only what we want but what were fighting for. As a devoted Christian, my center is the place where I feel connected to God, even when everything is going wrong, the connection with God is my solid ground. This means my priorities need to put him first, an outward reflection  of myself devoted to God. It's easy to go astray from this and when things get as busy as they are right now, I'm no exception to that. What I want to share with all of you tonight is how I feel God has brought me back to my center. Every day is busy, in all of our lives, a moment of silence is rare and what's even more rare is not having an immediate resource to "fix" any problem or concern. Well today I had the pleasure of hiking my favorite trail and on the way back my mind was buzzing with everything that could possibly go wrong even though I knew it would all be fine. It felt as if even in that big open space the whole world was caving in on me mentally. I realized if some of these scenarios were to occur, there's no phone service, no fast resources etc. In that moment however I realized the true beauty of this, yes I knew everything would be fine, but in the hustle and bustle of life, id been drifting from God. So God took this opportunity when I had nothing and no one else to rely on and used it to remind me to lean on him, remind me he is my solid. He reminded me that while I have so many "temporary fixes" he is the only eternal truth, the protector against all. God used that moment to bring me back to center, and you know what's really great? This is what God does for everyone, he takes the moments where were panicked, feeling forgotten, feeling lost, he takes the moments none of us would expect him to use and he uses them to bring us back to center! He uses them to bring us back to him. Even when we feel lost or we've wandered, he extends out his hand to guide us home, shines a light in the dark. I find it truly amazing how God works and how sometimes we go astray from him but he never once goes away from us! Find your center and if your not sure what that is, pray about it and let the light of the world guide you home! :)

Be Good to Yourself!

Everyone deals with stress in life no matter how young or old you may be. I know this is a topic I've touched on several times, this is due to the fact it is an ever changing, ever growing concept. Stress is constantly coming in seemingly endless forms. The specific aspect of stress that I want to focus on today is the fact that when were stressed, we typically take that stress out on ourselves. This is pertaining to how we treat our bodies, both physically and mentally when were stressed. I have experienced this a lot lately. Junior year has been crazy as I'm sure most of you know either from past experience or current. There's stress on getting grades that colleges will accept, ACT/SAT, getting volunteer hours, internships, upholding a job, playing sports or being active in school clubs, and so much more on top of trying to stay sane... In my most recent experience, I have come to the conclusion that when I'm stressed there are times that I'm not good to my body. ...

Love Yo Selfie

Often times when you think about "love", where does your mind go? For some of us it might be the love shared between a couple or a family, friends etc. Rarely however do we think about ourselves. The world can feel like its spinning a million miles an hour, I know mine is. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that we often times neglect ourselves. We love everyone and try to make sure they know that, but what about making sure we know we love ourselves? That were happy with who we are? You may be thinking I've gone crazy right now trying to tell you to love yourself lol. I'm serious though, we are our biggest critics and I feel like we spend so much time critiquing ourselves that we forget to be happy with who we are. We tend to excuse mistakes of ones we care  about, as we should but then we dwell on our own mistakes and let them tear us apart. We need to show ourselves the compassion we show others and we need to be comfortable with who we are as ...

Learning to Praise in the Midst of Pain

Many of you have probably heard the saying "Learn to dance in the rain". Personally that quote is one of my favorites because of its versatility, it can apply to anything from the smallest complication to the biggest catastrophe. On thing that we don't usually remember though, is to praise God when things go wrong. We always thank him and praise him when he blesses our lives and lets things go right in our eyes., but how about when things go wrong? I think often times when things go wrong we draw away from the Lord when really he's asking us to draw more near. God has a reason for everything and his perfect plan for our lives will prevail with our cooperation. So that being said, things may be going "bad" in our minds but if that a part of God's plan for us then things really can't be that bad.  When we learn to praise God even in the times we want to crumble, it shows our devotion and it causes us to lean more prominently on the Lord and less on wor...
